This is a fun winter project that I LOVE!! The children work in pairs to create a pair of mittens.

| First, they traced a mitten from my template. One child traced a left mitten. The other child traced a right mitten. |

| Next, they wrote several compound words that were specific to winter. These were written on the lines around the mittens. |

| Finally one person chose the pattern and the other chose the colors. They tried to make a matching pair of mittens without speaking a word!! I let them point, motion and make hand gestures to communicate. They really enjoyed it! |
